For ten years, The Telegraph’s Ultratravel magazine ran an annual awards ceremony in London, The Ultra Luxury Travel Related Awards, to recognise the very best in luxury travel.
The much sought-after ULTRAs were presented during a luncheon at a top London hotel, with venues including The Savoy and The Dorchester. Each year the event helped a different charity by securing special travel experiences which could be auctioned by the charities at their own events.
This high profile event attracted elite industry figures from around the world, many flying into London especially for the ceremony. Celebrities from Ronan Keating to Eddie Jordan have hosted the event and attended each year to present the awards, adding glamour to the occasion.
In 2015, we organised the first Middle East ULTRAs remotely from the UK. The event took place in the Al Falak Ballroom on the 27th floor (54th floor, as each floor is duplex) of the 7 star Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai.
The final ULTRAs to take place in the UK was attended in 2017 by Sarah, Duchess of York together with her daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, who spoke about their work for the charity, Children in Crisis.
Thank you so much for all your hard work on this year’s ULTRAs. It all went very well – I have had many positive comments about how well it was organised and how slick the presentation was.Nick Perry, Chairman, Ultratravel Limited
