Meet us: Rebekah
by Helena Moore, Content Manager and Assistant Producer
We caught up with Rebekah Richards, our Event Manager, to get to know her a bit better.
What do you enjoy most about working in events?
In a strange way, I enjoy the stress and pressure but there is no better feeling of comradery than being with your team on-site at an event. The stress and pressure is always worth it once you see the final result of your hard work in the weeks and months leading up to an event.
Most memorable event experience?
It has to be the ABTA Travel Convention held at the Yas Viceroy in Abu Dhabi. My dad is the biggest Formula 1 fan going, I have such vivid memories of watching it with him on a weekend afternoon when I was a child. When we arrived at the hotel, I called him and said “Dad, you’ll never guess where I am.” The sound he made when I told him will stay with me forever — a mix of envy and pride. I still remind him of it today, despite the event being some years ago now, and we’ll look at the photos together.
Tell us something not many people know about you?
I am a fully qualified hairdresser… and yes, there’s been lots of moments on-site where I have added ‘Team Blow-dry or hair-up’ to the function sheet!
Favourite things to do outside of work?
I have a four year old son, who was conceived via IVF so anytime I am not working, I am with my little miracle.
What have you learned since working in Events?
There is always a way and everything will always be alright on the night!
If you could organise an event anywhere in the world, where would it be?
It would have to be anywhere they hold the Formula 1 – but this time I’d take my dad with me.
