ABTA's annual Convention is the UK travel industry's flagship event, and Dellar Davies has been responsible for organising the Convention for over two decades.
In 2007, Dellar Davies was tasked with repositioning the event to reflect the changes affecting the sector. Combining extensive research into the needs and expectations of delegates with the visions and mission of ABTA, a brand new event was conceived: The Travel Convention.
Dellar Davies created a brand identity for The Travel Convention, which incorporates the globe icon from ABTA's logo in the top left corner. This symbolises that the event is owned by ABTA whilst being industry-inclusive and open to everyone in travel & tourism, not just ABTA's Members.
The Travel Convention's business programme has consistently achieved high satisfaction levels, with a unique balance of macro to micro content. This year's Convention theme was Travel in a Connected World, explored through the context of three key pillars: Our World : Our Industry and Your Business.
Developed by Dellar Davies in collaboration with ABTA's Convention Advisory Panel, the business sessions are pitched at a level that provides challenge and inspiration for delegates, and supports the industry's business leaders to maintain a successful travel business and a sustainable travel industry.
The Travel Convention is marketed to the trade through an integrated mix of media. From traditional print to regular e-blasts. tweets, a bespoke website to a Convention app, all communications are designed to be on message and informative.
One of Dellar Davies roles is to raise revenue to support the event through sponsorship and advertising, in order to offer affordable registration fees for delegates. While supporting the event financially, sponsors provide additional networking opportunities for delegates through their endorsement of niche social events and sporting activities.
Online and offline, Dellar Davies manages the registration and accommodation services for the Convention. Our registration team is available throughout the event to deal with delegate queries whatever the time of day, or night!
Dellar Davies designs and manages The Travel Convention website, which keeps delegates informed of the most up to date programme of events, news, views and social events. This links through to The Travel Convention app, which delegates can download and use on-site. The app and Website include links to The Travel Convention's Twitter, Linked In and Facebook pages.
